PTE in India: fees, booking, ID and centres
Taking PTE in India is a test-location decision. The product and target scores come from the course, immigration program or professional body receiving your result. Confirm that requirement first, then compare the Indian fee, identification rules and live appointment options.

Choose the product by your application
- PTE Academic: for institutions that accept Academic and Australian purposes that name it. Check the course or visa separately.
- PTE Core: the Pearson product IRCC lists for Express Entry. Do not replace it with Academic because you are testing in the same Indian city.
- PTE Academic UKVI: for a UK application using a four-skills SELT as evidence.
- PTE Home A1, A2 or B1: speaking-and-listening SELTs for the specified level and route. Home is a test-centre product, not an exam taken from your house.
Example: an applicant in Punjab applying to a Canadian college and also considering Express Entry has two receiving requirements to check. The college’s Academic acceptance does not establish that Academic can be used for Express Entry. Read the Canada purpose guide before buying preparation for the wrong product.

PTE exam fees in India
The following are the amounts displayed after selecting India in Pearson’s public fee finder on 28 October 2026. They are dated observations, not a reservation or a guarantee of a future price.
| Test booked | Displayed India fee |
|---|---|
| PTE Academic | ₹18,900 INR |
| PTE Core | ₹18,900 INR |
| PTE Academic UKVI | ₹18,900 INR |
| PTE Home A1 | ₹15,300 INR |
| PTE Home A2 | ₹15,300 INR |
| PTE Home B1 | ₹15,300 INR |
The public fee display did not provide a tax breakdown in this check. Review the final checkout amount, any tax information and the terms before payment.
Budget for travel, any preparation materials you choose and the possibility of another attempt as separate costs. A voucher offer is not proof that an agent is authorised. Keep control of your account and never give an agent your personal myPTE password.
Booking and dates
Select India as the testing country, use the exact product, compare live appointments and verify the confirmation in myPTE. If you live in India but choose to test abroad, the testing country’s booking currency and local price apply instead.
The online booking walkthrough covers the sequence. The booking-rules guide covers changes, refunds and test day; our India dates guide explains the live calendar and dated city snapshots. Leave time for processing, sharing and a potential retake before the receiving deadline.
Passport and identification checks
Pearson’s current Academic ID policy uses a valid passport as the default. Its current country-exception PDF does not list India as an alternative-ID exception. For an Indian Academic appointment, bring the original valid passport matching your booking; Aadhaar, a phone scan or a photocopy is not the Academic passport requirement.
For Core, Pearson lists the passport as accepted everywhere; the Canadian permanent resident card option applies in Canada. Academic UKVI and Home follow the separate UK SELT ID list. A valid passport is accepted for those products in India too. If relying on any alternative SELT document, confirm the exact current policy with Pearson before booking instead of borrowing Academic’s rules.
Compare every required identity field, including given names and middle names, with the document. If a form cannot accommodate your name or your details need correction, contact Pearson rather than guessing. Resolve a passport renewal or a passport held for another application before committing to a test date.
Test eligibility and course admission are also different. Under-18 Academic candidates need the relevant parental-consent process; Pearson’s Home FAQ specifies people over 18. Do not apply one product’s age guidance to the whole test family.

Choose an Indian centre you can reach reliably
Pearson’s public India page stated 57 test centres during this check. That country total does not prove that every centre offers every product or Home level. Start with the India centre directory, then confirm the exact product, centre address, date and time in the official search.
Compare transport, the required early arrival, likely traffic delays and the cost of staying nearby if travelling from another city. Do not select a centre because a social post promises easier marking. The city is a logistics choice, not a scoring advantage.
Arrive at least 30 minutes before the confirmed appointment and follow Pearson’s check-in instructions. Bring the accepted original ID, store prohibited belongings and report equipment problems to staff when they occur.
Using a result taken in India abroad
The receiver decides acceptance, not the Indian test location alone. Record the accepted product, required scores, permitted test age and verification method for each application. Use the Australia guide, Canada guide or UK guide for destination context.
When the result arrives, follow the score-sharing guide. Check the specific attempt and reference requested by the application. A downloaded PDF or high overall score does not replace a missing skill threshold or secure reference.
Prepare against the actual target
Write down your four ability targets, or the booked Home level. Use the correct product’s official materials, diagnose errors and review unseen practice before deciding whether the test date is realistic. Browse task lessons for focused help rather than memorising a generic answer for every prompt.

Frequently asked questions
What is the PTE fee in India?
On 28 October 2026 Pearson displayed ₹18,900 for each of Academic, Core and Academic UKVI; each Home level was ₹15,300. Confirm the current final amount in the official checkout.
Can I use Aadhaar for PTE Academic?
The current Academic policy and linked country exceptions do not provide an Indian Aadhaar alternative. Use the accepted original valid passport. UK SELT products have a separate ID policy.
Do Indian candidates need a different PTE syllabus?
No separate Indian Academic or Core task syllabus is listed by Pearson. Prepare for the product you book; location affects appointments, currency and practical ID checks, not a special Indian question set.
